Ramon A. Maize, 79, of Dover went home to be with the Lord on Friday, January 21, 2011 at his home surrounded by his family.

He retired in 1993 as a Press Operator for the Times-Reporter.

Born September 12, 1931 in Mather, PA he was a son of the late John and Mary Sokol Maize. Ramon was also preceded in death by his brothers, Harry, Richard, John, Bob, Joe and Don Maize and John Shimo; sister, Virginia Warren.

He was a member of the Foursquare Gospel Church in Dover, American Legion in Jefferson, PA and the Dover VFW. Ramon proudly served his country during the Korean War with the Navy aboard the SS Frank Knox. He enjoyed golf and was an avid bowler having been on leagues at Boulevard Lanes.

Ramon is survived by his wife of 51 years, Karen Johnson Maize whom he married on July 4, 1959; sons, Alan Maize of New Philadelphia, Timothy (Chris) Maize of Dover, David Maize of Dover and James (Ethel) Maize of Uhrichsville; sisters in law, Louise Maize of Dover, Gayle Maize of PA and Joyce Modrey of Dennison; grandchildren, Christian, Timothy, Matthew, Jacob, Jackie, Missie, Kimmie, Kyle, Isabella and Micha; several nieces and nephews and many adopted daughters.

Funeral services will be held on Tuesday, January 25, 2011 at 1:30 pm in the Foursquare Gospel Church at Dover with Rev. David Wing and Pastor Ron May officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park where the Dover VFW will conduct military graveside services. Friends can call in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover on Monday from 6-8 pm.
