Fred was the Press Room Superintendent at the Times Reporter, having retired in 1985 after 36 years of service.
Born September 8, 1923 in Mineral City he was a son of the late Albert and Ann Roberts Kollar. Fred was also preceded in death by his wife, Katherine "Kitty" Kollar who died on April 18, 2006, five brothers and three sisters.
Fred is survived by his children, Brenda (Stan) Schupbach of Dover, Rhonda (Allen) Glidden of Lexington, North Carolina and son, Brad (Sue) Kollar of Dover; brothers, Vic (Helen) Kollar of Dover and Jim Kollar of New Philadelphia; sisters, Wanda Ehrhart of Dover and Jane Milburn of New Philadelphia; seven grandchildren, Greg Jarvis and companion Paula Betche, Scott (Debbie) Jarvis, Tricia (Chad) Hicks, Frank and Tim Glidden, Jennifer Swartzwelder and companion Drew Kissling and Kelly (Travis) Smart; 12 great grandchildren and one great-great grandson.
Funeral services will be held on Thursday, January 6, 2011, at 11:00 am in the Toland-Herzig Funeral Home and Crematory at Dover with Elder Glenn Carlisle officiating. Interment will be at the Dover Burial Park where the New Philadelphia VFW will conduct military graveside services. Following the burial a luncheon will be held at the Toland-Herzig Monarch Center.
